Jimmy D. Long, Jr., J.D., Board Certified Estate Planning Attorney about me


Jimmy D. Long, Jr. is a well known estate and retirement planning attorney in Louisiana. His workshops have been widely attended by retirees from around the state, and especially in the Shreveport/Bossier and Alexandria areas. Jimmy has concentrated his practice on helping retirees arrange their legal and financial afairs to avoid mistakes with their money, to protect their assets from taxes and nursing home confinement, and to increase their income.

Jimmy graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.A. in History. He was awarded his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, and has completed additional coursework toward his Masters of Law Degree in Taxation from Regent University. He has made numerous presentations on estate planning, employee benefits, veterans benefits, retirement planning and elder law to his workshop attendees, other attorneys, CPAs, and financial professionals around the state.

In 1990, Jimmy was admitted to practice before all Louisiana Courts, and subsequently the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Administration by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.

Jimmy is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Academy of Special Needs Planners, ElderCounsel, L. L. C., the ElderCare Matters Alliance, the National Care Planning Council, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Jimmy has served since 1992 as an Assistant District Attorney in Natchitoches Parish, prosecuting a variety cases including juvenile crime and child abuse, drug trafficking, public corruption, and felony crimes against individuals, including the elderly.

Jimmy and his wife Mary live in Natchitoches with their three daughters, where they are active in their church and community.
